Welcome to Writing in Heels!

An insight into one journey of trying to be a New York Times best selling novelist, while walking in many pairs of outrageously, fabulous high heels. Heels for the career woman, heels for the friday night girl, heels for a glam dinner with my man, and heels for simply staring at with admiration and desire.

A chance to share some of my thoughts on the more fabulous, fun things in life and of course providing a home for a few frivolous ideas, questions, and views on anything and everything. A bit like a recipe I'm still forming, so bear with me while I get all my ingredients together to make a batch of something sweet.

Xoxo

Tumble Down the Rabbit Hole

  • 10 Things I've Learnt from Being a Parent

10 Things I've Learnt from Being a Parent

Okay... so realistically I could craft a list way longer than ten, but these lists always seem to be ten in length. Maybe because you'll lose interest if it's any longer. Nonetheless, these little observations kept popping into my head at random times over the past few months, and I just felt the need to share. So here we go!

  • Choices

    Choices

Quite often there just simply doesn't feel like enough hours in the day. That could be part of the reason I don't like sleeping, but that's another post entirely. This one is about how each day feels like every minute is occupied, I don't have any "free time" anymore.

But the more I think about this, the more I realise it isn't true. Each day is filled with choices, and you choose what to do in your free time. The problem is... you can't choose everything, so how do you choose anything!

  • Never-Ending Beginnings

    Never-Ending Beginnings

To say time flies feels like a complete understatement at the moment, and all those times people have said to me "they grow up so fast", couldn't feel any more true than at this precise moment. The scary thing is... I think it's just the beginning!

My baby girl is almost 7 months old. And with every day comes new learnings - not just for her, but for me as well! Just when you start to get the hang of things, a new chapter of parenthood begins.

  • My Magic of Christmas

    My Magic of Christmas

What a busy two months! Christmas has been and gone (only 11 months until next Christmas!), summer feels like it has arrived, holidays from work for most are wrapping up and my baby girl has turned 5 months old!

We had a vacation to visit the grandparents, and during that time, she got to experience the Magic of Christmas. Or at least My Magic of Christmas.

  • #SorryNotSorry

    #SorryNotSorry

Amy Schumer might have brought this hashtag into the limelight recently, and incidentally I have found myself encountering so many moments where it is applicable. I don't know if it's a post-partum thing or my general disposition which prompts me to provide unwarranted apologies all over the show.

Maybe it's time we stop worrying about what other people think so much and say #SorryNotSorry.

  • Fashionably Late

    Fashionably Late

I might be putting early pressure on our baby girl to be a wee fashionista, given I am calling her 'late' arrival at 41 weeks intentionally fashionably late, but late or not, she arrived safely just after midnight on the 11th of August and in the words of Metallica... nothing else matters.

So now that bubs is on the scene, I sense my life and subsequent posts may change somewhat! But first let me introduce you...

Shoe Box

  • Iron Fist - Grin and Bear It Platform

Iron Fist - Grin and Bear It Platform

It's been so long since I featured a shoe on WritinginHeels, it's almost criminal! But here is one so cutesy wutesy that you won't be able to stay mad at me for long.

From the funky-loving brand Iron Fist, this is a fab flashback for those 90s kiddies whose childhood is filled with visions of cuddly pastel-coloured bears.

  • ShoNews - Sophia Webster - Barbie Collection

ShoNews - Sophia Webster - Barbie Collection

When I get an email about a new collection from Sophia Webster, I am generally excited enough. So imagine how much my heartrate rose when the word Barbie was mentioned in the name!

I don't think it was at all unreasonable to expect some flashes of hot pink and candy colours, and thankfully enough, I was not disappointed. This latest collection is definitely good enough to eat.

  • ShoNews - Taylor Says - Fantasays Collection

ShoNews - Taylor Says - Fantasays Collection

This collection isn't exactly hot-off-the-press new - it did catch my eye when it first popped up in my inbox - but alas, I am only just getting around to sharing this ShoNews... Better late than never!

And when it comes to TaylorSays, it's one of those brands that is sure to delight at any point in time. If you liked the previous collections, then Fantasays is bound to have some shoe-appeal.

  • Iron Fist - Cycloburg Super Plat

Iron Fist - Cycloburg Super Plat

Okay... admittedly there's not too many out there who would rock this to after work drinks or a Saturday night out, but as any shoe fanatic will agree, there's something to be admired with this funky platform pump from Iron First.

While I'm not really a fast food fan, I can't help but find this burger design so entertaining!

  • Iron Fist – Misfits Oxford Flexi Flat

Every girl needs some good pairs of flats... I know, it sounds almost wrong, particularly coming from a blatant heel addict such as myself, but nonetheless my flat collection is admittedly growing as more fashionable choices become available. And this pair of Iron Fist oxfords is certainly wardrobe worthy, paying homage to The Misfits with the classic Misfit skull print, and wicked neon green lining. Punk rock perfection!

  • ShoNews - SJP - New Collection 14

    ShoNews - SJP - New Collection 14

It's a double dose of SJP this week as we take a look at her new collection - 25 italian-made shoes that exude feminine elegance, exactly as you would expect from the fashion queen.

Channeling the simplicity that was reflected in her debut collection, new colours and styles are introduced including lace-up booties, t-strap pumps and ballet flats, all very dainty and girly, coupled with a gorgeously romantic campaign.
