Self Published - Four of a Kind

It's been a pretty exciting time in my household this week, not just because it was my birthday, but mainly because I have reached a huge milestone in my writing career... I have published my first book!

It has been a wee while coming and a lot of time and effort, but my debut novel 'Four of a Kind' is now available for purchase! So pour yourself a cup of tea, grab a couple cookies and snuggle into the couch as I tell you where you can get your hot little hands on my brand new book.

Self Publishing - Wake Up and Smell The Roses

According to my last post, Self Publishing - The Write Way, my expected publication date for my debut novel was cited as March, 2014, and you may have noticed... we're currently in March! So where am I at? Is my book bound for the shelves or still gathering virtual dust on my hard drive.

It's time for an update on my journey to New York Times Best Sellers list... because it's just a matter of time now, surely!

Femme Fatale - Jennifer Lawrence

Femme Fatale - Jennifer Lawrence

I've been pretty open about my girl crush on Jennifer Lawrence since I first saw her in The Hunger Games, and perhaps I'm in post-coital glow having been to see American Hustle recently, but when I decided to do a new segment on Femme Fatale, a la celebrating fabulously fierce women in the world, its creation was synonymous with the selection of Jennifer as the first to feature.

Why? Well it could have something to do with her being one of the most down to earth, bona fide Hollywood blockbuster babes around... and all at the ripe old age of 23!

Self Publishing - The Write Way

It's been a little while since I announced a new path in my journey: the path of self publishing. So I thought it was time that I gave an update as to where I am on this path and when you can expect to see my first book publicly available!

Admittedly, it hasn't been the easiest road to take as I thought my decision making was over, but in fact it was just the beginning. In this instance, you open one door and three more open in front of you!

Just Desserts - What's Your Flavour?

Sex and the City might have made the subject acceptable cocktail conversation and proliferated our screens with steamy sex scenes and enough nudity to make Hugh Hefner blush, but the furore of Fifty Shades of Grey has delivered us a new flavour of bedroom antics. Yep that's right, sex in the 21st century is no longer plain Vanilla if the popular trilogy is anything to go by, with the relationship between the two main characters giving light to, what has previously been viewed as taboo, S&M.

So does plain old Vanilla still have a spot on the shelf or has it been relegated to the bottom of the freezer?

Fashvolution - Couples Style

Evolution. What is it? Is it merely adapting to one's surroundings? Changing to better fit in with the environment you inhabit? If this is the case, then what do we mean by fashion evolution... Fashvolution? Does this begin to explain why, as we become more comfortable in our relationship, we morph and change based on stimulants from our partners... Get your mind out of the gutter! I mean fashion stimulants!

Where am I going with this? Well we have seen the trend in Hollywood - "couples style", so does this then apply to our own individual Fashvolution?

To Be or Not To Be

To Be or Not To Be

Perhaps I'm still feeling philisophical having just finished off a book on the philosophy of Inception, and this is why I'm choosing to title my latest spiel on my journey to becoming a New York Times Best Seller upon a Shakespeare quote, but without even delving into any detail, it just felt right.

When one comes up against a wall, we often think "perhaps it's just not meant to be". To be or not to be... that is the question. Or perhaps it is a choice.

Walking the Tightrope - Pushover or Polite

Walking the Tightrope - Pushover or Polite

What is the difference between being considerate and caring too much? I ask this question as not too long ago when we were on the flight back to New Zealand, I was sitting with my seat-back upright, acutely aware of the passenger behind me and worrying desperately that if I were to recline back at all it would be disruptive, but not just disruptive, it would be rude. This lasted almost the entire duration of the flight, despite the fact the person in front of me had their seat reclined back in my face from almost the second we took off.

So where do we draw the line... walking the tightrope of being a pushover and being polite.

Work to Live or Live to Work

I'm sure practically all of you out there will have heard of the phrase 'Work to live or Live to work' before and taken a brief moment to contemplate the meaning.

Well, me being the over analytical (and not in a calculative, numbers or business type way), constantly searching for a greater depth to something which is probably intended to be one dimensional , person that I am, have recently begun to think about this phrase a wee bit more...

Moschino Cheap and Chic - FW 13-14 - Pink Punk

You probably think I'm getting a bit fashion fixated lately, but I stumbled across the Fall/Winter 13-14 Moschino Cheap & Chic collection, and just couldn't resist sharing as I discovered the theme to be uber (does anyone still say uber?) cool 'Pink Punk'!

Straight off the London runway, this collection is totes adorbs, with that perfect balance between pink feminine frills and punky rockin' attitude.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween

The spooky season is almost upon us and as it draws oh so close, I thought it appropriate to do a Halloween post, namely so I could share these adorable Fanged Pumpkins that I happen to see on... *cough cough* The Martha Stewart Show - Hey, I was unemployed at the time, Martha at least provided some slightly educational TV time, albeit a slight domesticity angle.

And as I thought about a Halloween blog, I thought you know what, let's not do the whole 'commercial exploitation' thing, because Halloween is quite simply fun!

Fabulous Fashion Find - Graphic Tee - New York New York

I was lucky enough to take a holiday last year and among the places we went, and a place very high up on my holiday wish list, was the Big Apple! Yep, I swanned around New York and was in total and utter awe of the magic of that city like Alice exploring Wonderland.

There is something so special about New York, that even for those who haven't been there, it doesn't stop the imagination and nor does it stop the fashion! This Fabulous Fashion Find takes a moment to pay homage to the City of Dreams!

Blast from the Past - Playground Pastimes

The other day I was strolling down the main street of Wellington, and I came across a busker, right outside the supermarket. Now this in itself is obviously not worthy of commentary, but what I did find notable was his busking medium of choice...

It wasn't a guitar like the young guy singing a droning version of Stuck In The Middle, nor was it a fiddle accompanied by a Chinese man who looks like the guy selling takeaways in The Fifth Element, and it definitely wasn't a small-sized keyboard like the girl who has her dog sitting patiently next to her. This chap was busking with... Chatter Rings.
