ShoNews - Pour La Victoire - Cameron Diaz Debut Collection
She's funny, smart, gorgeous and one of Hollywood's most prized down-to-earth stars, so what could she possibly add to her already impressive repertoire which would make us love her that little bit more?
Yep, that's right... shoes! The actress has revealed her first full accessory collection for Pour La Victoire consisting of many swoon-worthy shoes balancing a perfect line between form and function.
The actress was named Artistic Director of the shoe and accessory label Pour La Victoire in 2013, involving herself in the design process and drawing on her passion for the fashion industry. The brand boasts an image of female empowerment and describes their shoes and accessories as "recognizable for their memorable blend of grace, strength, character and intellect." And given the characteristics and values of Diaz, it's no surprise that she's the perfect fit.
"When I first started working on the Pour La Victoire shoe collection, the fashion at the time was really high, high platforms. It wasn't something I was wearing necessarily because I have so much height already," she revealed to Vogue. "I'm such a stickler for shoes and function. And that's what we are getting back to with this line - function." There's no doubt that functionality is important, but so often the word can trump style in the fashion industry. Thankfully, this definitely isn't the case with the latest Pour La Victoire collection; providing a number of options that suit different circumstances for different women.
Diaz went on to tell Vogue, "When I'm in New York, I pretty much wear flats... If I get a great pair of heels that I can walk in the city in, I find myself in those heels all the time. Otherwise, if I'm in the city I wear more of a utilitarian boot. But in Los Angeles, because you're in your car all the time, I find myself wearing heels a lot. And I really love a good heeled boot because I move quickly on my feet and I want something that's going to stay on. That's why with my Pour La Victoire line you see strappy bits on some shoes. Because functionally you want something that looks good on the foot but stays on the foot and doesn't require a lot of work to do so."
And just glancing through the collection, her words are reflected in the design of each shoe; beautiful textures of suede, croc-embossed leather, combined with varying heel thickness and subtle styling details. The collection embraces functionality but never loses it's style – and ultimately, we wear heels to empower us, we want to be confident of both form and function, and Diaz delivers this.
